Questions about the use of Electronic Timers
Which Electronic Timers can I use? How do I know my Timer is Working?
  • Plug timer cable into computer and turn both on.  Go to BarrelTime Main Menu. "| Timer | Eye Test |" Follow the prompts to Test the Timer and to find the right COM port for your computer.
How do I know which Com port to use? Eye Test does not Connect to a COM Port. Now What?
  • Windows 8/10 does not allow selection of a COM port through Windows. Eye Test sequentially tests COM 1 through COM 10 to find an available port and make a connection. Each port is tested for 30 seconds waiting to receive a signal from your computer. Com ports 1-5 are typically used.
    See BarrelTime HELP File.
  • First double check that BarrelTime is looking for the right timer. Go to Main Menu "| Utilities | Set Up Defaults | Electronic Timer Set Up |" to run "Eye Test" in Set-up mode. Be SURE that you timer's Radio Button is selected. Follow the prompts to Test the Timer and to select the right COM port for your computer.
